Here we go!
We wait for it, we dream about it, we drink it in man.... the Sin City Showdown is one week away!
Fresh off the most spectacular Nationals ever, held on the incredible campus of Notre Dame University, The ABA/All Elite team is heading 1900 miles West to deliver the Hottest Tournament on the Planet, the one and only Sin City Showdown. Over one hundred total players, fans, refs, and tournament staff, are heading to Vegas for the 23rd running of Decadance in the Desert. We are extremely pleased to announce the first ever Iron Man taking place at this years tournament. In addition to the six registered Co-Rec teams (including Vegas automatics Brewsers, Golden Knights, and Pittsburgh Broomball Club) 39 men's players registered as individuals and are competing against each other on Teams MGM, Bellagio, and Mirage. The event has attracted players and teams from nine different states, and four canadian provinces! Check our X (Twitter) account next week for updates and photos of all the action.
From there The Tour returns to the Broomball Mecca of the United States, Minneapolis Minnesota, where sold out tournaments, the Minnesota Meltdown, and Riverside Classic will take place in October. The Meltdown will feature the defending Class A National Champions and current #1 ranked team in the USA, Legion BC, battling against the most succesful American team of the last five years (boasting more tournament championships than any other team in the world over that timeframe) Kelly Lake. Perennial American powerhouses Met X, MN Chiefs, and C&L Excavating will also be appearing in this loaded field, as well as gritty, gutty Minnesota competitors Ice Mafia, and The Wolves.
The Riverside Classic features the Ladies, as ABA National Champions Arctic Blast, and AEB MN State Champions L'Equipe renew their fierce rivalry. Newly formed MN Gray Ducks, and the courageous Frostbite squad are also going to battle the top two behemoths of the American Women's game in an attempt to pick one (or both) of them off!
The Men's division of The Riverside Classic offers a unique twist, as teams are limited to no more than two players off the rosters of America's top four teams. C&L and Blizzard look to be the favorites in this roster limited event, with a strong challenge expected from ABA Class B National Champions Barrie's Legends. Sporting an average age of 50, the dominators of the 2010's decade will seek to capture one last tourney, with some help from their longtime Manitoba mates. Anyone overlooking the C+ squad from "Everywhere USA" would be foolish, as this club has the abilty to upset most any team in the land. The Flames and Red Rock may also surprise. Solid cores and an open free agent signing period are recipes for potential upsets galore!
That covers our already scheduled and posted events, but there is so much more!
The American Broomball Alliance, in conjunction with the Canadian Broomball Federation (in particuliar, several outstanding officers from that organization) are EXTREMELY PROUD to announce the renewal of The North American Super Series. Last years spectacular inaugural event in Minneapolis Minnesota saw the American contingent sweep their Canadian counterparts in Men's (3 games to 2), Women's (3 games to 0) and Mixed (3 games to 0). You can bet the Canadians will be coming loaded for bear, and looking for payback in this years Super Series! If you are any type of broomball fan you are going to want to be in Windsor Ontario Jan 5-6, or be tuned in to our broadcast partners at Broomball Central for this Mega-Broomball Extravaganza!
The American Broomball Alliance National teams will be led by Jonathon Jaunty (Men's), Sheila Cheng (Women's) and Grant Dawson (Mixed). We are hopeful of sending two ABA game officials to this event (played under IFBA rules), but also very sad to announce our top two officers cannot attend due to work commitments. Check back here October 1st for the roster announcements of all three ABA National Teams.
The AEB Tourney Tour really cranks up in December, as the Grand Daddy of them all, the longest consecutive running tournament in the world ( escaped the Covid curse year) The North American Championships will take place In Minneapolis December 8-9. For 27 straight years the top teams, and players from the USA and Canada have converged on Minnesota to battle it out. Men's and Women's Divisions will be available, and registration instructions will be available shortly on this site.
After the 1st of the year a plethora of action takes place, but we are completely out of remaining adjectives for today, and have to call it quits as writers block has crept in. Needless to say, check back here often as details will emerge shortly on the Syracuse Can/Am, Ladies Night Out Tourney, The International, The AEB MN State Championships, and The ABA National Championships.
A small spoiler before we bail, The National Championships in St. Louis Park MN are going to be a Banger! The venue is top notch, and the surronding entertainment district is unreal, prepare for liftoff in April, as more than 50 teams are expected to attend!
So for now we bid you adieu, goodbye, goodnight, and bang!! (that one was for you #39)
Stay Elite all, see you in Nevada.
