The time has come to say goodbye to the hottest tournament on the planet. Hockey has exploded in Vegas ( a great thing) but it has become financially impossible to run a broomball tournament with ice prices now at $400 plus an hour. Supply and demand at its finest! Also, someone swiped the broomball nets from last years host (Pepsi Center). We would have had to add another 4K to purchase and ship goal frames!
So with fond memories AEB sez goodbye to our home away from home. Special thanks to all the Barrie’s Boys who made the trip over all the years, as well as the Brewsers and Pittsburgh Broomball Club who were constants.
So much fun, and so many great memories! Thanks to every single player and ref who made the trip!
If anyone with deep pockets ever wants to resurrect it, feel free to take the name and carry on! If you need any advice or help with logistics, I am an email away! aebroomball@gmail.com
Viva Las Vegas!
ps. Glad to share some new photos sent in after the original post, including this gem from the very 1st Vegas tournament in 1998. This is from the no longer there Frontier, and includes ABA HOFers Greg Richard, Jimmy Kallstrom, Mikey Raeker, Fred Clifford, and Franko Macalus. Lovegreen and Flames legend the Man-Cub, Robbie Couliard is seated between Fred and Frank.
