Wow! What a weekend.
I am a little rushed here as I have to get to Vegas for The Sin City Showdown, so the deets are going to be sparse.
First off, thank you is not even close to enough for Danny DeCourval, Racim Kebbab, and especially Barbara Wlodarczyk of Broomball Canada for all their efforts in making this vision a reality. You are all class acts! On behalf of the American Broomball Alliance, (and all of our players) thanks again. You were all amazing to work with.
I cannot overstate the amount of respect I have for the Broomball Canada Men's High Performance team I just coached against. Your skill, strength, and intensity is always something to behold. Your style of play is how I will remember broomball when I am finally put out to pasture, tough as nails! I will defer to my Mixed and Women's coaches if they would like to comment here about their opponents when they have time.
When this was announced, and the rosters were published, my friends over at the Gold Sheet would have most likely listed the ABA Women's Nationals as a slight favorite, the ABA Men's Nationals as a slight underdog, and the ABA Mixed team as a heavy underdog. In my wildest dreams I could not have forseen all three teams winning their respective series. To say I am proud today would be a massive, massive understatement!
The results were as follows -
ABA Mixed Nationals three games to none
ABA Women's Nationals three games to none
ABA Men's Nationals three games to two
Mixed All-Tournament Team
Kenzie Demers - Canada
Alex Perreault - Canada
Jessi McGehee - USA
Kaye Folmer - USA
Matt Street - USA
Joe Thell - USA
Women's All-Tournament Team
Marlie Chauvin - Canada
Stephanie Legault - Canada
Sam Gordon - USA
Sheila Cheng - USA
Amy Steck - USA
Shelly Larson - USA
Men's All-Tournament Team
Bobby Bilodeau - Canada
Jordan Wideman - Canada
John Seitz - USA
Corey Swanson - USA
Jacob Broten - USA
Jonathon Jaunty - USA
That's all I have left! Off to Vegas today to start a new adventure. For those of you not traveling to Nevada, hope to see you at the North American/Midwestern Championships in Jan, The International Championships in March, or the ABA National Championships at the University of Notre Dame in April.
Dave
Oh yeah america!
